ROANOKE, VA (June 13, 2017) – The Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference, Inc. is pleased to announce that Jim Moynihan will be the Welcome Breakfast Keynote Speaker for the 2017 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference. He will speak on Friday, September 22, 2017.
Jim Moynihan serves as president of OneChurch, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry based in Yorktown, VA. Formed in 2008, OneChurch seeks to reach people of all backgrounds, races and stages of life from area Christian churches and ministries to build relationships with one another and then, in partnership with one another, to build relationships with their community.
Jim has a special interest in community development that brings local churches alongside their neighbors to work with them in discerning the communities’ needs and assets and implementing community development strategies. He specializes as a trainer and coach of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), a methodology for the sustainable development of communities by assessing the resources, skills & experience available in a community; organizing the community around issues that move its members into action; then determining and taking appropriate action to resolve the issue.
Jim attended seminary at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 1986. He also holds a Master of Communications degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in Mechanical Engineering.
Jim resides in Yorktown, Virginia with his wife, Sheila, and their daughter, Ashley.
